During a busy opening weekend, the men’s and women’s cross country teams stepped off in their first race at the Monmouth Kick-Off at Thompson Park in Lincroft, NJ. The teams raced against several Division I teams in the contest, and both placed seventh in their respective competitions. This was the team’s first race under new Head Coach Zach Mower.
The men’s team was lead by standout Christian Parenti (‘19) setting the pace after crossing the line in 22:58.8 for the 6,000 meter race. This time was good for 34th in the overall race.
The women’s team saw Mollie Ankrom (‘21) cross the line first, finishing her 4,000 meter race in 18:13.4. This was the rookie’s first collegiate race. She was closely followed by her teammate Lisa Rojas (‘18) who finished 18:13.4. They placed 38th and 39th overall, respectively.
The team races again this Saturday, September 9, at the Juniata Cross Country Invitational.
