Field Hockey Captures First Win of the Season

September 14, 2018

Field hockey blanked Keuka, playing to a 0-0 draw through regulation and overtime at Ranger Stadium before heading into a shootout. The Rangers fell behind as they missed on their opening attempt. Keuka capitalized on their first shot, which would ultimately become the deciding factor. Neither team would go on to score on their other strokes, giving Keuka a 1-0 win. Two-time team MVP Ryann Callaghan (‘19) finished the game with five saves in the cage.

In a mid-week matchup the Rangers traveled to William Paterson University in what became a rainy game under the lights. Late in the first half the Rangers earned a penalty stroke after Mallory Holson (‘22) was fouled on the goal line. Kate Todero (‘19) converted to give the Rangers the go-ahead goal for their first win of the season and her second career collegiate goal. Callaghan recorded her first shutout of the season.
