Cross Country Performs Well at Highlander Challenge

The Rangers cross country teams both ran in the Highlander Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the New Jersey Institute for Technology. The women placed 20 overall out of 29 teams.


Violet Kimble (‘21) led the Rangers once again, placing 20 in the Division II/Division III category. Kimble completed the 5,000 meter course in 22:07. Among all 227 competitors she finished 92.


Not far behind was Mollie Ankrom (‘21) finishing in 22:39 for 101 place. Gabriella Garcia (‘21) crossed the line in 24:28 for 139 position. Next to come in was Arya Bondre (‘21), clocking a time of 26:18 for 169. Emily Rosales (‘19) rounded out the group with a 179 finish in 27:45.


Christian Parenti (‘19) paced the men’s team, crossing the 8,000 meter course line at 29:58. Parenti took 82 in the field of 239 Division II and III runners. The team placed 23 out of 30 schools.


Nick Smale (‘19) followed his teammate to take 138 with a time of 33:21. Right behind him was Tony Colbert (‘19) finishing in 33:52 for 146 position. Tony Pham (‘22) ran the course in 34:21 for 154 and Neelesh Kantheti (‘22) ran a 40:28 for 215 place.


Drew men’s and women’s cross country teams continue their seasons on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they travel to the St. Joseph's (N.Y.) Invitational.
