Men’s soccer entered this week trying to secure a position in the Landmark Conference playoffs for the third straight year as they sought to beat their only opponent of the week, Juniata. The Rangers entered the game after losing to conference leader Scranton; they were coming off a week in which they lost more games than they won.
The Rangers proved in this game why they won the Landmark Conference Championship last year against Juniata. They scored early and often with the first goal coming in minute two from Nate Race (‘21) and goals being added throughout the game from Aida
n Cserhat (‘20), Tony Oliveira (‘21), Alexi Velazquez (‘19), and Brian Cerri (‘19) while Matt Asante (‘20) had two, making for seven goals in total.
Drew’s defense would also shutout the Eagles, as Juniata was only be able to muster two shots, both being saved by goalie Jason Adamo (‘20). With that win, the Rangers have secured a playoffs spot. Now they will look to finish their season with a win against the Susquehanna River Hawks this Saturday at Ranger Stadium at 1 p.m. when they will also be celebrating Senior Day.
