Men’s Soccer Offense Erupts in First Round of ECAC Tournament

November 16, 2018

Despite their loss in the Landmark Conference Playoffs, the Ranger’s season continued this weekend as they were selected to participate in the ECAC championship. The Rangers, playing in front of their home crowd, made their presence felt in their first game against the New Rochelle Blue Angels. It was a rather one-sided match up as Drew’s defense along with goalie Jason Adamo (‘20) shutout the Blue Angels holding them to just seven shots. The offense took care of the rest, scoring seven goals before the final whistle. Scoring goals for the Rangers were: Nate Race (‘21), Alexi Velasquez (‘19), Andy Imoh (‘20), Aidan Cserhat (‘20), Cole Bosch (‘21) and Sean Sousa (‘22), with Imoh scoring twice.

After the blowout win for Drew, and Grove City’s win over Wilkes, the Rangers were set to play Grove City for the opportunity to play again this weekend for the ECAC trophy. Drew’s offense once again put on a show, netting four goals from Matt Asante (‘20), Race, and two Cserhat. However, the defense goaltending faltered a bit in this match, letting up two goals in the face of 17 shots.

With their win, the Rangers will be back in action this weekend, playing Wilkes as they hope to capture the ECAC tournament trophy.
