On Feb. 2, the men’s swimming and diving team concluded their dual-meet season with a 113-90 loss to Ramapo College. The Rangers closed out the year with a 4-4 dual-meet record.
The Rangers were missing a large portion of their regular lineup due to illness; even so, Drew led 85-83 heading into the final two events. With only one breaststroker well enough to race, Ramapo took first and second place to assume the lead. Ramapo also took the top two places in the 200-freestyle relay to close out the meet and secure their victory.
Leading the Rangers were Michael Ma (’20) and Alexandre Sannibale (’21), who each tallied two wins. Ma registered a victory in the 200-individual medley in 1:59.91 as well as the 100-butterfly with a time of 52.54. Sannibale finished first in both the 1,000-freestyle with a time of 10:33.74 and 500-freestyle in 5:02.46. Garrett Pilkington (‘20) finished just behind Sannibale to clinch second place in both events. Jack Mahoney (’20) was clocked at 22.52 to add a victory in the 50-freestyle while Matheus Macena (’21) finished second. Macena was also the first place finisher in the 100-backstroke with a time of 54.56.
The Rangers continue their season on February 14-17 when they compete at the Landmark Conference Championships at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md.
