While Drew was off for spring break, the Rangers men’s lacrosse team was on campus and in action during the spring festivities. The Rangers took on both Arcadia and Montclair State during their break but would, unfortunately, drop both games, moving them to an 0-5 record overall.
In their first game, the Rangers took a road trip to face the Arcadia Knights in Glenside, PA. It wasn’t long after the first whistle that the Rangers found themselves in trouble. The Knights would net five goals before Brendan Hamm (‘19) put the Rangers on the board. Arcadia continued the onslaught. But the Rangers proved resilient as Jack Fatone (‘20), Kyle MacDonnell (‘20), Kevin Goettlich (‘20) and Thomas Garner (‘19) all found the net throughout the game. Unfortunately, their efforts did not prove to be enough as the Rangers fell on the road 18-9.
The second game was played on the Rangers’ home turf at Ranger Stadium, and they took on the Montclair State Red Hawks. This game was much closer, yet once again it was the Rangers’ opponent who found the net first. However, MacDonnell responded with two goals of his own to put the Rangers up 2-1 early, but this lead was short-lived. The Rangers were shutout in the second period while the Red Hawks scored twice to take back the lead. It wouldn’t be until the third period, and two more Red Hawk goals, that the Rangers found the back of the net once more as Seamus O’Connor (‘20) put one past the keeper. Two more Red Hawks goals later and MacDonnell tallied his third goal for the hat-trick. Later in the game, O’Connor once again found the back of the net, but it was too late. The Rangers fell to the Red Hawks 9-5.
Drew is back in action this Saturday in Swarthmore, PA taking on the Swarthmore Garnets at noon.
