Tennis Finds Early Season Success Over Break

The men’s tennis team concluded their spring break in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, finishing 4-2 on their trip to improve their overall record to 7-3 on the season.


On the last day of the trip, the team split with a win over Albion, 8-1, and a loss to Milligan, 7-2. In their win over Albion, Drew swept their singles matches which included Vineet Vemulapally (‘19), Dan Blumenthal (‘22), Bryce Kennedy (‘21), Lloyd Goldstein (‘20), Bryce Weizer (‘20) and Billy MacDonald (‘22).


In their doubles matches, Vemulapally and Bret Schuler (‘22) won their match, 8-2. Geoffrey Diehl (‘20) and Jeremy Gottlieb (‘22) captured a victory, 8-5.


The men’s next match is on Wednesday, Mar. 27, against Rutgers-Newark on the road. The start time is to be determined.  


For the women’s team, they won three out of their four matches at Hilton Head Island, the latest against Albion to improve their overall record to 4-4.


The women captured all six singles matches as well from Ashley Camel (‘20), Cristina Riccio (‘20), Christina Christodoulou (‘20), Kate Gangi (‘22), Sarah Noel Jeune (‘20) and Marwa Elessawy (‘22).


In the team’s doubles matches, Camel and Elessawy won their match, 8-4, and Gangi and Sarah Noel Jeune won their doubles match, 8-5.


The Rangers next match is at Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, Mar. 27, before opening Landmark Conference play on the weekend against Goucher.
