Bringing the Bronx Zoo to Drew

September 27, 2019

Every year the first-year class goes on a day-long New York City trip with their respective DSEM classes. This year Drew opted to create an NYC themed weekend, with a New-York themed lunch at Commons on Friday and a petting zoo hosted by Student Activities on Saturday.

The event, which took place on the EC Patio from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. had goats, chickens, sheep, rabbits, chicks, ducks and a pony! There was also a make-your-own stuffed animal station.

The event was part of a series of new activities being hosted by Drew’s New Late Night and Weekend Programming Coordinator, Carmine Biancamano and Director of Student Activities Meghan McHugh. Masses of students happily waited in line to hold a bunny or chick and stuff a plush while listening to music from the EC speakers.

“Being able to see all the animals and make a stuffed animal was so fun and relaxing!” said Marissa Berrios (’22). Another student, Sophie Genolio (’22) said, “I prefer the therapy dogs but it was a nice break from the norm.”
