Field Hockey Continues to Decline

October 18, 2019

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, field hockey continued their season with a non-conference game against Ramapo College. The Roadrunners took a 3-1 lead into halftime with a goal in the first quarter and two in the second. Charlotte Grimm (’21) scored for Drew off a corner assist from Carly Schiller (’22). Lauren Zultowski (’23) added another goal after Ramapo pulled away to settle the final score at 2-6. Joie Slossar (’21) got the start in the cage, tallying 12 saves.

Drew was back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12, facing Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference matchup. The game was a close contest, with both teams defenses putting up a nice effort. Unfortunately for the Rangers, an early goal midway through the first quarter for the Blue Jays proved to be the 0-1 winner. Slossar stopped 11 shots in net for the Rangers.

The Rangers hit the turf at the University of Scranton on Thursday, Oct. 17 after the game was postponed due to weather concerns from the previous day. Drew was handed a 1-4 defeat by the Royals during the Landmark Conference contest. Sami Strathern (’20) scored the lone goal for the Rangers in the fourth quarter when they were already behind by three goals.

After being on the road for the last three games, field hockey will return to Ranger Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 19 to take on Moravian College in another Landmark Conference game.
