The Drew University field hockey team allowed only a pair of shots, but host Juniata College was able to put one of them into the cage and the Rangers were handed a tough 1-0 setback in a Landmark Conference last Saturday, Oct. 26.
The Eagles scored the only shot of the opening quarter, as Olivia Marker scored with 7:19 remaining in the period. Camryn Koch (’21) placed a shot on cage midway through the second quarter, but it was saved by the Juniata keeper. Joie Slossar (’21) kept the Rangers within striking distance, making one save apiece in both the third and fourth quarters. Each team earned four penalty corners.
The Rangers came back with a vengeance in their following game against Bryn Athyn at Ranger Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Drew crushed their opponent 6-0, with five different Rangers figured into the scoring column.

Madyson Griswold (’20) wasted little time to get the Rangers on the scoreboard, as she buried a shot just 28 seconds into the contest. She took a feed from Sami Strathern (’20) and connected from the right elbow for her first goal of the season and the second tally of her career.
Drew would strike two more times before the end of the opening quarter. April Serratelli (’22) took a long pass from Griswold that deflected off the goalie and tapped it into the cage midway through the period, then with just six seconds showing, Casey Quinn (’20) drilled home a rebound for her first collegiate goal, making it 3-0. The Rangers tacked on one more goal in the opening half, as Jinah Cappuccino (’22) knocked in a rebound with 5:03 showing to give Drew a 4-0 halftime advantage.
Serrattelli netted her second goal early in the third quarter, connecting from just inside the arc off a dish from Strathern. Amber Frikkee (’22) set the final score, just beating the buzzer off an assist from Quinn for her first collegiate goal. Slossar was credited with the shutout for the Rangers while Alisha Parnell stopped eight shots for Bryn Athyn (1-12). The Rangers outshot the Lions 26-0.
Drew closes out their season on Saturday, Nov. 2, when it hosts Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference tilt at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
