Drew University’s women’s basketball team took down Goucher with a score of 83-47 on Saturday, Feb. 8, before securing a tight 63-56 victory over Susquehanna on Feb. 12. The Rangers now hold an overall season record of 15-7, including a 6-5 run in the conference, to mark their best record through 21 games in program history.
The Rangers took control early against Goucher with an 11-3 run before finishing the first quarter with a 24-11 lead. In the second quarter, Drew pushed their lead to 19. Goucher cut the deficit to 12 midway through the period, but the Rangers responded with an 8-0 run to finish the half with a 40-21 advantage. Drew continued to open their cushion with a 14-0 run early in the third quarter before finishing the period at 63-33 and leading by as much as 38 in the final quarter.
All 17 Rangers who dressed entered the game, and 12 different players contributed a point. Julia Ramos (’21) led the Rangers with 15 points, followed by Sekya Campbell (’22) who notched 14 points and four steals. Erin Fredrick (’21) shot 5-for-6 from the field to finish with 13 points while Gwen Alberici (’23) made five of six shots and contributed 10 points. Joey Meyers (’23) posted seven points and eight rebounds, Cecelia Kracht (’22) blocked four shots and Lisa Cappiello (’23) dished out four assists.

Against Susquehanna, the Rangers were down 13-10 after the first quarter. The River Hawks were up 19-12, their largest lead in the game, when Drew found their offense and took the lead with under two minutes remaining in the half. The Rangers led by seven points early in the fourth quarter, but the River Hawks rallied to tie the game. With just over two minutes of play remaining, Susquehanna went up by one before the Rangers went on a seven-point run and stopped their opponents on their final four possessions.
Fredrick led the Rangers with 15 points and three steals while Joey Meyers (’23) added 14 points, including down the stretch and three rebounds. Campbell recorded 10 points and eight rebounds, two of which came in the final 17 seconds of play to secure the Rangers’ win. Katrina Wojtowicz (’23) posted 13 points and three blocked shots in the opening half. She went 5-for-5 for the night and 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Ramos added seven points and five assists while Kracht contributed four steals, and Alberici completed a 13-2 Ranger run with a layup.
With their pair of wins, Drew moved up a spot in the conference to fourth place, where they are currently tied with Moravian. The Rangers will conclude their regular season on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Elizabethtown in another conference match-up.
