The Drew University men’s and women’s tennis teams kicked off the spring portion of their seasons with matches against FDU-Florham and The College of Saint Elizabeth on Sunday, Feb. 16. On the men’s side, the Rangers defeated both FDU (8-1) and Saint Elizabeth (9-0) to improve their record to a flawless 6-0 for the season.
Leading the Rangers in their match against the Devils were Avi Perera (’23) and Brett Schuler (’22), who secured an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles. Geoffrey Diehl (’20) and Bryce Kennedy (’21) secured an 8-4 win at the No. 2 doubles spot, while Karel Raska (’20) and Billy MacDonald (’22) prevailed with an 8-7 victory at the No. 3 spot. Perera, Diehl, Jeremy Gottileb (’22) and Bryce Weizer (’20) secured singles victories at the No.1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively.
In their match against the Eagles, John Dickey (’23) teamed up with Weizer to collect an 8-1 victory in No. 1 doubles, and Dan Blumenthal (’22) and Van Holson (’23) collected an 8-2 victory in the No. 2 spot, while Leo Ambrogio (’23) and Ben Dunlap (’22) captured an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 spot. MacDonald, Ambrogio, Dickey, Ryan Money (’23) and Brett Philip (’22) all collected singles victories.

On the women’s side, the Rangers handed undefeated FDU-Florham their first loss of the season, securing a 6-3 victory against the devils, and improving their own record to 5-1. The Rangers were led by Sanne Bloemendaal (’23) and Ashley Camel (’20) who secured the No. 1 doubles victory with a tight margin of 8-7. Danielle DelRosso (’23) and Saraphina Noel Juene (’20) secured the No. 2 victory with a score of 8-2, while Christina Christodoulou (’20) and Cristina Riccio (’20) secured the No. 3 victory with a score of 8-4. Camel (‘20), Marwa Elessawy (’22) and DelRosso all captured singles victories in the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 spots, respectively.
The Ranger men continue their season as they host the Ranger Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22, facing off against Dominican College, Manhattanville College and the Ramapo College of New Jersey. The Ranger women return to action on Sunday, March 1, when they compete in five matches during their Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, NC.
